This stunning 700+ year old home with take your breath away. Tucked into the winding Lanes of this mountainside town, you'll be instantly taken back to simpler times. The valley is full of history and so much to explore and see.

La Roque-Gageac is a lovely area. Extended visit definitely requires a car and its fair to emphasize the 2.5hr drive from Bordeaux. Plenty of places to have lunch or dinner between la Roque-Gageac and nearby villages. Walking is also good with trails well marked. Recommend canoe or kayak as another way to take in the views. Grottes are interesting, if its your thing. If you speak any French, even a few common phrases, this is helpful. I found there were only one or two locals who were impatient with english speaking visitors. Sarlat la Caneda is not far with more amenities since la Roque-Gageac has nothing in the way of market/grocery. Overall if you like quiet village life this area fits the bill.
