Fascinating shop that was on my “must see” list for my Paris visit. I had purchased some items from the shop and sat them down on a table while waiting for my friend. I forgot them! But the staff found the bag and had it for me when I returned! Thank you so much!!!!!
Was there just this afternoon. Browsed around the shop (which is a veritable cave of wonders), then sipped a latte at the coffee shop while looking at even more books. Ended up buying some really nice second hand copies of a number of books I've been meaning to read for some time, as well as two novels which I had never heard about, but seem interesting. Prices are very worth it and the books are almost as good as new. The staff at the coffee shop was also so very nice and friendly! Thanks so much for a nice couple of hours.
P.S I just loved the library rooms with couches upstairs! Wish I lived in Paris so that I could visit every day!
I can't tell you how much I love this shop. The variety, the cosy nooks and crannies, the stairs, the history (Hemingway and Ford), and the fact that people still flock here. I bought a lucky dip that I won't be opening until I get home - it's my little surprise to me - and the cafe next door makes an amazing hot chocolate. Oh, and I was so tickled to find a local Geelong boy behind the counter - (sadly, I didn't ask his name - hello you lovely man) he was a wonderfully welcoming face in a foreign land. This shop could be the sole reason I return to Paris.
It's a lovely shop, made famous by so many movies. I had some difficulty finding it as it was behind some trees but it was so worth it :). I love the ambience, they have these nooks and corners with chairs and loveseat that you can sit and pick up a book and read. Although I was disappointed that I didn't have time to explore the poetry section upstairs, but I did bought a couple of books by french writers and the Shakespeare and company stamps on the books along with the bookmark were a nice touch and makes an excellent souvenirs.. All in all, it made my trip to Paris worthy. P.S. I was wondering if they have a vintage book section that I haven't seen or found, hmm any advice?
A wonderful maze of a bookshop situated on the banks of the Seine opposite Notre Dame. The history of the shop is as fascinating as the shop its self. My wife and I visited in November 2016 and bought a number of books including one telling the story of Shakespeare and company and George Whitman....A History of the Rag and Bone Shop of the Heart. A wonderful book.
I think this might very well be my favourite place on earth. It is cozy and full or organized cahos, interesting people and now serves coffee. Who could ask for anything more?

Widely regarded as the finest book shop in the world, it's not hard to understand why. Helpful staff, wide variety of books and a warm atmosphere. I left with with a couple of fine books and a smile.

The best and most uniqe bookstore I've ever seen.
Totally recommended to all bookworms
Awesome little bookstore with a fascinating history, situated in the heart of Paris. Friendly staff and Cat to top off the experience.
A near overwhelming scattering of books everywhere. If you are a book lover you will have to keep very focused or you may get lost. I think this place is helping to keep karmic balance in this world. We certainly need that now!
What a magical spot for writers to connect to the energy of some of our favorite authors. Thanks Suzanne Vining Kerba for showing me this great spot in Paris.
Came here so regularly within my three weeks in Paris that the employees remember my face
What a lovely place to find English books in the middle of Paris!
Thinking about the treasure house today... Pleased to say they have some of the GB Publishing's books there - at least a tiny contribution to glory.... Let's hope this great place will stock even more in the future
Visited twice this week. What a treat. Spent ages browsing and soaking up the atmosphere. Bought a couple of books and a tote and had my books stamped by the very charming blonde English girl working there. The bookmarks were a lovely touch. Everyone who visits Paris should drop by. A beautiful spot. I wish I could airlift it over to Dublin. And the resident cat is wonderful. Just dont dare sit in his seat
What an amazing place!!! My favourite hideaway in Paris

the super fantastic bookstore in paris, actually the world....a lovely historical site that one must visit on their tour of the city...it's home to many books that one should read....the staff is excellent for they will provide you with a helping hand in this vast maze of a book store...do watch your head when wandering through the book nooks and crannies for the store is ancient paris ...besides, any bookstore that has a feminist children's book section is a friend of mine...
Always love coming here! Always find something I have to have!
Thank you to everyone who was working in the café yesterday when my phone was stolen! You were all so kind and helpful to me when I really didn't know what to do! The best! <3
