As a Cook from Canada I highly recommend Chez Dumonet if you are visiting Paris. I can easily say it was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life, the service was superb and our waiter knew everything about the menu inside and out. He also was able to point us in the right direction of a reasonably priced bottle of wine (a malbec made in France) which paired beautifully with both our mains. Me and my partner order the Terrine as an appetizer which was a huge portion (and tasted spectacular) I got the Confit Canard which was cooked perfectly and he got the Bouef Bourguignon both of which were beautifully presented and tasted even better. Dessert was also a masterpiece in itself, we ordered the Mille Fueille which by this point looked like way to much for us but we managed to eat the entire giant piece. Hope to be back one day! Keep up the amazing service!
You should really not come here as the caveat is:
It sort of sets a standard for a few dishes which you will never be able to find anywhere else. And you will always compare the best dishes here to others you find on other menus but I'm afraid the journey to get a better dish might just be in vain.
I had one of the best meals in a long time and also the staff was phenomenally patient with us.
My friend begged me not to tell others about this place to keep it a secret but my inner circle of foodies is small and I do want to give this restaurant the great rating it truly and utterly deserves.
The best:
Appetizers: pot of pickled Herring, Escargots in mash potatoes bowl, Foie gras Terrine
Plates: Mille- feuille pigeon with crisp potato cakes, duck confit, boeuf bourguignon
For the dessert - Grand Manier Soufflé , Millefeuille.
