On a sunny Sunday afternoon we had driven along the coast from Honfleur trying to find a nice restaurant that also had available parking. We noticed Au Pied des Marais. We didn't notice that they close their lunch service at 2:00, which is when we went in, but Chef Thierry Ramard offered to seat us if we would be happy with ordering only a main course. We were. Chef Thierry waited on us himself and surprised us with an amuse bouche consisting of two separate items- a sea bass mousse and a chorizo based mouse with chopped vegetables. We ordered the chateaubriand for two. We were seated in front of a huge fireplace which also doubles as a grill. The chef cooked that beautiful hunk of steak to perfection and served it atop a mixture of vegetables, and set it all off with a morel sauce filled with the mushrooms.
The wine list was extensive with some reasonably priced selections among upper end wines.
We were not rushed to finish our meal and were given a warm goodbye when we left.
I wish we could have tried it for dinner but we found this on our last day. Next time.
Had dinner here with friends. Atmosphere and staff were delightful. Prawn and Langostino dish, Filet of Beef and and Apple desert flamed with Calvados were all excellent. They use a huge fireplace in the dinning room to cook some of the dishes.
Un dîner parfait, tout était très bon, un accueil chaleureux et alors la table devant la cheminée, extra. Le chef cuit les viandes devant nous au feu de bois, cadre très agréable, encore merci d'avoir pris en compte ma demande d'une petite table romantique! J'ai choisi ce petit endroit à la suite d'une demande en mariage et madame à été conquise!
De très bons plats avec des menus au prix très correct et un large choix de vins! Une adresse que je recommande que je n'oublie pas!
