Our return to La Condesa was just as superb, if not infinitely better, than our first visit. La Condesa is a small, intimate restaurant, with the true feeling of dining in someone’s home. “Like dining in someone’s home” is an overused term, but it really applies at La Condesa because the entire staff, including the owner/chef, serve, greet, illuminate, and charm their guests. La Condesa is like attending a dinner party at the home of a great chef.
This cooking of this great chef is announced in every creative dish, utilizing techniques and spices representing both his Mexican birthplace and his adopted French home. His creations sparkle on the plate. I can’t remember a chef using the color green in so many preparations. Herbaceous sauces, adding a deep, almost primordial look, add a flavor profile unique to this kitchen.
We of course opted for the six course set menu, instead of the four, the only choices offered. The absence of a la carte allows the chef to give attention to each dish. The four of us could not decide a favorite, with the duck and the salmon getting the most votes. The menu changes often, but the creative and delicious cooking remain constant.
With a wonderful bottle of Condrieu, a cocktail and two glasses of champagne, our bill for four averaged around $110.00 per person, a bargain for this superlative restaurant. La Condesa would be a “steal” with a less expensive bottle of wine. I will return to La Condesa every time I’m in Paris. It was a wonderful evening dining out; a special evening only Paris can create. La Condesa adds to the effervescence of this city of light. Merci beaucoup.
A menu which is fresh, creative, young and full of promise. Mexican born Chef Indra has a gone beyond French cuisine staples to crest new flavours. Think of a seascape of new textures. Well worth trying his "surprise menu"
A truly memorable way to celebrate my birthday. Sublime tasting menu that evoked Spring with every course. Interesting wine pairings. A tiny restaurant, with a truly lovely and dedicated staff. We also happened to sit next to a lovely couple and it ended up being more like dining with new friends than eating at a restaurant.
